London 2012: Team GB misses out on cycling medal

The British cycling team, including hotly tipped Mark Cavendish, has missed out on an Olympic gold medal in the men's road race.

The race was the most watched event in the first full day of games around the UK in 19 sports, ranging from shooting to tennis to swimming.

Meanwhile Olympic authorities are investigating why hundreds of seats were empty for popular events.

Earlier, the Queen met athletes during a visit to the Olympic Village.
Alexandre Vinokourov of Kazakhstan winning the men's road race

Team GB's hopes of a first-day gold medal were dashed after Alexandre Vinokourov broke from the race's leading group to sprint to the finish, closely followed by Colombia's Rigoberto Uran. Norway's Alexander Kristoff took the bronze.

Cavendish told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I can be proud of how the lads rode today. I'm proud of my country as there was incredible support. The guys are sat there, they are spent. They have got nothing left in the tank. It's incredible to see that. To see what they gave for the cause."

Fan Grabs Nicki Minaj onstage

Nicki Minaj isn’t afraid to get in your face with her rhymes, but Lord help whoever gets in hers. The Young Money queen was not having it when a crazed Barbz grabbed her onstage in Miami — and neither were her guards.

During a break between songs, Minaj was chatting with her Barbz when one of them got way too close. He actually rushed the stage and grabbed her disproportionately small waist and refused to let go. Scary stuff! But it got even scarier for him when her security team and her boyfriend, SB (Safaree Samuels) kicked the crap out of him.

What ensues next is a mess of punches and even a dropkick (these people are not playing around!). Then, two of the fan’s pals follow him onto the stage and into the backstage area, ostensibly to check up on and maybe nurse their pal back to health.

For her part, Minaj handled the situation remarkably well. While she at first appeared really startled and nervous, as soon as the guy was gone, she laughed the whole thing off. With a sheepish grin, the Harajuku Barbie looked at the crowd and roared, “Thank you for the love, Florida!” She immediately got back to business, performing ‘Take It to the Head’ with DJ Khaled and Lil Wayne, who joked, “Is that your baby daddy who ran onto the stage?” Oh, Tunechi. Don’t ever change.

Snoop Dogg denied Norway entry for 2 years for pot

OSLO, Norway (AP) — A lawyer representing Snoop Dogg says the American rapper has been banned from entering Norway for two years after trying to enter the country with a small amount of marijuana last month.
Holger Hagesaeter, the rapper's legal representative in Norway, told The Associated Press on Saturday that his client "can live with the decision" and has no immediate plans to appeal it.
Snoop Dogg, whose name is Calvin Broadus, was on his way to a music festival in southern Norway in June when sniffer dogs detected eight grams of marijuana in his luggage. He was also carrying more cash than is legally allowed and was fined 52,000 kroner ($8,600) after admitting to the two offenses, the lawyer said.

He was due to play in London on Tuesday, followed by Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff and Nottingham.

The performer accepted a police caution last year after being arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and affray at Heathrow Airport.

His spokeswoman said he was "mystified" at the decision. Tuesday's London show will go ahead regardless, she added.

P Diddy will appear at the Wembley Arena show, she said.

"Snoop and his team are hoping the British government will reconsider this decision, especially as he has toured here before and sees the UK as being the highlight of the tour," the spokeswoman said.

"He has asked how he can help rectify the situation and would happily talk to and give assurances to officials."

The 35-year-old - whose real name is Calvin Broadus - was held overnight by police in Sweden earlier this month on suspicion of using drugs.

He is also currently facing weapons and drugs charges in the US stemming from three separate arrests in 2006.

Snoop Dogg came to prominence as part of the 1990s gangsta rap scene, scoring hits with What's My Name? and Gin and Juice.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it could not comment on individual cases.

Rihanna, Chris Brown Secretly Meet Up on Yacht for Late Night Party
"Rihanna knew Chris was on his way [to St. Tropez] and actually changed her plans late Friday night late after calling Chris from the yacht's satellite phone," a source tells Us.
Brown, 23, who chartered an impressive yacht complete with a submarine, two helicopter landing pads and a swimming pool, was seen mooring the boat next to Rihanna's off of the town's Pampelonne Beach. The "Turn Up the Music" singer is said to have rented the impressive yacht with Swizz Beatz and Ludacris -- for a whopping $400,000 a week -- for an upcoming music video.
"Rihanna went and partied hard with the guys on their yacht," the source says.
Another source adds that Brown's current girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, was also aboard. "I don't know if Rihanna even knew that she was there!"
Although Rihanna and Brown avoid stepping out in public together, the singer has gone on the record to defend her contact with her ex, namely, their musical collaboration on a remix of her song "Birthday Cake."
"It never occurred to me how this was going to be a problem," she explained to Esquire UK in June. "I thought people were gonna be surprised that we finally did a record together, but I didn't see how people could think it was a bad thing, you know? In my mind, it was just music . . . I could never see anything wrong with making music."
